Generally, you can only make changes to your benefits during the annual Open Enrollment period. However, you may be able to update your coverage outside of this period if you experience a Qualifying Life Event.

A Qualifying Life Event (QLE) is a major life change that allows you to make changes to your health insurance outside of the annual Open Enrollment period. If you experience a QLE, you may have a special enrollment period (typically 30–60 days) to update your coverage.

Common Qualifying Life Events:

  • Marriage or Divorce
  • Having a Baby or Adopting a Child
  • Loss of Other Health Coverage (e.g., job loss, aging out of a parent’s plan at 26)
  • Change in Residence (moving to a new state or coverage area)
  • Gaining Eligibility for a New Plan (e.g., Medicaid, CHIP, Marketplace insurance)

Please contact Sterling Benefits to help resolve any claims issues!

You can review your plan’s Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC), which outlines what services are included, such as doctor visits, prescriptions, and hospital stays. You can find these documents above in “Reference Documents”. If you have any specific questions contact Sterling Benefits!
